    The Department of Political Science at Barnard College seeks a full-time Term Assistant or Associate Professor to teach 5 undergraduate courses during the 2024/2025 academic year.

    The Term Professor will teach a combination of lecture and seminar/ colloquia classes (small specialized seminar courses for Political Science majors).

    All courses should be in the subfield of Comparative Politics, and we are particularly interested in candidates who can offer courses on topics such as democracy/ autocracy, backsliding; social movements; European politics, Latin American Politics, South Asian and Middle Eastern politics.

    The Term Professor may be asked to take on advising duties for Political Science majors, and will be compensated for each advisee in accordance with the Barnard Contingent Faculty UAW Local 2110 contract.


    Salary:
    $82,000 - $82,000 per academic year


    Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:

    Qualifications:


    Applicants must have completed the PhD by the position start date and have demonstrated excellence in teaching at or beyond the level of teaching assistant.


    Duties:
    Teach undergraduate courses in the comparative politics subfield.

    Duties include teaching existing or new lecture and colloquia courses. The teaching load is five courses per year. This is a one year position. Please see job description above for information regarding compensation for advising Political Science majors.

    The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.

    The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
