    We are currently looking for a Renewables Development Specialist II to join our team. This position is responsible for performing a variety of development and origination work in siting, land acquisition, interconnection coordination, stakeholder and public outreach and partnership management for renewable facilities, battery energy storage systems, and related balance of plant equipment. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaboration with a project team focused on the development of large- and small-scale utility renewable projects.

    This is a hybrid-remote position reporting to either the Madison, WI or Cedar Rapids, IA office. Our preferred candidate will be in Madison, WI. Candidates must reside in Iowa or Wisconsin.

    What you will do
    • Provides guidance to the project team about evolving project and community priorities that impact the sense of urgency for deliverables and engagement with stakeholders and identifies opportunities to optimize the project's integration into the community.
    • Serves as a key contributor to the renewable design and configuration of a wind, solar, or battery energy storage system (BESS) conceptual design, including existing or planned infrastructure, land parcel status, linear facilities/routing, and physical layouts of equipment throughout the project area to the point of interconnection.
    • Champions renewables in support of corporate and project objectives and contributes to the various phases of renewables development, including initial customer origination, early-stage siting and development assessment through mid-stage conceptual layout, and preliminary engineering through late-stage development and permit approvals.
    • Presents alternatives and constructively influences the customer's decision-making; serves as a credible specialist in one or more development areas.
    • Manages risks associated with key deliverables related to the projects, such as ensuring compliance with relevant ordinances, successful permitting outcomes, and general acceptance of the project.
    • Performs effective risk management that involves direct application of previous project experience and highly qualitative influence factors and continuously reassess the ability of risk factors to impact project objectives.
    • Coordinates and leads cross-functional teams that deal with complex technical and project related topics.
    • Champions project goals and objectives to assist with the efficient resolution of risks and issues.
    • Prioritizes renewable developer and supplier relationships.
    • Stays current with project portfolios in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota and with Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) business practice manual influencing interconnection and other relevant generation resource requirements.
    • Anticipates customer needs and expectations and delivers high-quality, innovative solutions.
    • Assists in managing project budgets, including processes accruals, and communicates anticipated changes in the budget. Structures projects such that the effect on shareholders and rate payers is balanced.
    • Engages in other duties as needed that support our Values and help deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
    Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Sustainable Systems, Renewables Development, Real Estate, Engineering, Environmental, Business, or relevant degree is preferred.
    Experience:
    • 3 years of related experience is required.
    • Renewable developer experience, along with ability to deal with subcontractors and cross-functional teams; recognized as having expertise in a particular area of the discipline is preferred.
