Job Summary:


This position will support the research program of Andrea Gilmore-Bykovskyi, PhD, RN, a leader in dementia care research and Associate Professor in the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

The person in this position will serve as a primary Research Specialist for an NIH-funded study focused on examining lucidity among people with dementia surrounding end of life care.

This study has established and implemented data collection procedures for audiovisual observations among people with dementia in inpatient hospice settings and is currently in an ongoing phase of expanding data collection while also analyzing and disseminating findings.

This individual will be responsible for the development and implementation of assigned research protocols, including recruitment, data collection, study conduct, compliance, monitoring, reporting, data quality control, and ongoing support with dissemination.

The roles and responsibilities of this role require the person in this position to manage relationships with multiple, diverse stakeholders, including lab staff, clinical staff, family/friend caregivers of people with dementia, and people with dementia.


Responsibilities:

Develops, designs, and conducts one or more research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision.


  • 20% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
  • 20% Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • 10% Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
  • 20% Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
  • 10% Provides operational guidance on daytoday activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
  • 5% Performs literature reviews and writes reports
  • 5% Develops and manages relationships with study collaborators, study site partners, overseeing recruitment efforts in coordination with PI and study site partners
  • 5% Supports the PI and other study team members with communications and outreach related to the project
  • 5% Supports other labwide program areas as needed

Qualifications:


Required:

  • At least 1 year in a research specialist, assistant, or equivalent role in an academic, medical, or research setting
  • Experience collaborating across multiple departments, units or functional areas
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Commitment to an inclusive and diverse work environment

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of study design, data collection and management, and compliance
  • Experience with: NVivo, REDCap, or comparable data tools, Epic or other electronic health record
  • A track record of effectively managing intermittent periods of high work volume

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 50% - 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.


Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 24 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding


Salary:


Minimum $43,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The starting salary for the position is $43,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
