Position Description:
The Purchasing Manager will oversee and direct the activities of the purchasing department.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiate terms and agreements, and evaluate supplier performance to ensure quality, reliability, and favorable terms.
Develop and implement procurement strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with business goals and industry best practices.Identify, evaluate, and select potential suppliers, source new products or services, and assess market trends to make informed procurement decisions.
Collaborate with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.Draft, explain, implement instruction, policies/procedures for purchasing/contract management.
Maintain and/or implement purchasing and recordkeeping systems.
Act as the company's representative in negotiations with suppliers.
Coordinate removal or disposal of surplus materials and administer the departmental budget.
Requirements:
Bachelor's in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Purchasing Specialist, Procurement Officer, or in a similar role.
In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
