    Description

    The Lead Cook at Montage Ridge is responsible for preparing high-quality meals according to therapeutic diets. The Lead Cook is responsible for menu planning, high-quality food prep, ala carte service, presentation, and employee supervision, as well as any other job duties listed below or as outlined by their supervisor. Complies with federal, state, and local standards for community operation. Incorporates Generations Mission, Vision, and Values into their daily work and interactions with others.

    SCOPE OF JOB TASKS:

    • Assists in overseeing kitchen operations
    • Prepares all food as outlined by menu, resident needs, and prescribed diets
    • Ensures kitchen cleanliness and food preparation according to state and local health department code requirements
    • Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure the kitchen is properly stocked and inform the Culinary Director of any necessary food, supplies, or equipment needs
    • Participate in regular Culinary Team meetings and review resident comment cards/feedback to improve the quality and operational efficiency of the kitchen
    • Partners, trains, and directs the daily workflow of kitchen employees
    • Assists in routine and preventative maintenance of equipment and property
    • Recognizes and adopts the appropriate menus in partnership with other culinary employees and the Culinary Director to use recipes that meet the specific needs of the residents
    • Resolves food complaints timely and appropriately
    • Ensures adherence to quality assurance processes by routinely auditing meal service, dining, safety, sanitation, and meal satisfaction as it relates to the Kitchen
    • Plans and executes food needs for catering and special events
    • Other duties as assigned
    JOB SPECIFICATION:

    Education:
    • A high school diploma or GED is required
    Experience:
    • Two (2) years of prior line cook experience is required
    • Previous culinary leadership in a healthcare setting is highly desired
    Qualifications:
    • Current Food Handler's Permit
    • Certification in CPR and First Aid
    • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
    Physical demands:
    • Workday - 8 hours
    • Stands - often, up to 8 hours
    • Sits - occasional
    • Walks - often, short distances
    • Bends - often
    • Stairs - occasional, but not required
    • Climbs - seldom
    • Kneels - seldom
    • Lifts - often, up to 25lbs
    • Repetitive hand/foot - occasional
    Supervision:
    • This position may have responsibility over the Culinary Staff.
    Working Conditions:
    • May be exposed to hot, humid, sometimes dangerous conditions such as fire, chemicals, hot water, hot equipment, knives, etc.
    • May be exposed to slippery floors and strong odors
    • May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.
    • Required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
