    Description

    Job Summary:

    This role is as the Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer who reports to ADOT's Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of the HR Department, managing Recruiting/Staffing activities, Classification and Compensation, position maintenance, personnel records and files, employee evaluation system, and the HR Business Partner/Liaison team. When the CHRO is absent, this position reviews/approves salary changes and procurement requests and represents at both ADOT and ADOA CHRO meetings.

    • Participates in and executes special projects as assigned by the CHRO or agency leaders.
    • Requires a high level of professionalism and confidentiality, along with being tactful and diplomatic.
    • Models ADOT values through leadership, coaching, and development of problem solvers.
    • Encourages a culture of continuous improvement and inclusivity.
    • Remote work option available within Arizona.

    Job Duties:

    • Manages day-to-day HR department operations.
    • Oversees HR Business Partner/Liaison team.
    • Develops and manages HR Business Intelligence Data/Dashboards.
    • Serves as primary point of contact for the CHRO.
    • Participates in special projects.
    • Works on process optimization projects.
    • Handles HR inventory, Public Records Requests, and other related duties.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

    • Knowledge in: State Personnel Rules and Employment Law, applicable laws, ADOT Policies, Budget Processes.
    • Skill in: Time management, Customer Service, Problem-solving, Communication.
    • Ability to: Manage programs, Work independently, Analyze data, Handle confidential material.

    Selective Preference(s):

    Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of HR experience, public sector experience, and Supervisory experience.

    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    This position requires a valid driver's license and in-office presence as needed.
