    The ideal candidate for the Senior Simulation Engineer role is someone who is a builder at heart with a superpower in using massive computing power to speed product development. This person will lead product simulation efforts and heavily contribute to the physical testing of products and prototypes. This person will be detail oriented, always seeking to understand what is happening and why to uncover a deeper insight or truth. This person will be a fast learner, able to adapt their existing skills and experiences to whatever is needed to solve the problem in front of them. This person will be resourceful, organized, and excited to work in a startup environment where everyday the work directly impacts the overall companys success. This person is driven to take on whatever challenges arise and prepared to lead or follow as the situation demands. This person has a strong moral conviction to have their simulation work reflect what is truly possible in physical embodiments of the product they are helping to develop.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide subject matter expertise for how modeling and simulation can address product development challenges
    • Develop and validate state-of-the art physics models of helmets, shock absorbers, and other safety equipment
    • Contribute substantially to hands-on, mechanical impact testing, prototyping, and hardware manufacturing activities
    • Conduct simulation experiments, analyze data, and synthesize insights to inform research and product development teams
    • Communicate complex technical topics simply to both technical and non-technical audiences
    • Create inventions and provide technical expertise to IP protection efforts
    • Provide expertise to support non-engineering activities, including, but not limited to fundraising, sales, and marketing efforts
    • Champion the values and traumatic brain injury prevention mission of the Company

    Qualifications

    Must Have:

    • Masters Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Biomedical engineering (or related field)
    • 4+ years experience building finite element analysis models and validating them against real-world designs
    • 3+ years experience conducting physical experiments in a controlled laboratory environment
    • Experience with LS-Dyna and MATLAB
    • Passion for the mission of traumatic brain injury prevention

    Preferred:

    • PhD in Mechanical, Industrial, Biomedical engineering (or related field)
    • Experience developing computational fluid dynamics models
    • Experience working on problems related to human safety and/or protective equipment
    • Experience with MADYMO
    • Experience developing 2D and 3D CAD models using packages such as AutoCAD, Solidworks
    • Experience with statistical methods, data science toolkits, or large language models
    • Experience with hands-on prototyping of physical products
    • Experience protecting intellectual property (IP)
    • Experience writing federal grant proposals and managing work funded by federal grants
    • Experience working in a startup environment
