    About the Employer


    Welcome to the Whittier City School District, a Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade school district with eight elementary schools, two middle schools, and one K-8 school.

    We serve approximately 6,300 students who matriculate into the Whittier Union High School District.

    Whittier City School District offers advanced technology programs, including 1:1 devices, Apple TV, and innovative instruction to support all students.

    Whittier City School District is one of seven local districts that join together in a Special Education Cooperative (SELPA) serving Whittier area special needs students.

    The Board and community support the Visual and Performing Arts, including music and art teachers at every school. Whittier puts "Students First. Every Decision - Every Day.

    Application and proof of high school graduation/GED Resume Coursework certificates and/or transcripts


    Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures including business correspondence, filing, and the operation of common office machines; ability to learn and use a calculator and computer terminal; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others.

    Minimum 35 wpm typing for Substitute Secretary position (test given).

    • Proof of HS Graduation (Minimum of HS/GED required)
    • Resume (3-5 references included)

    Comments and Other Information

    Modern office practices a procedures, including business correspondence, filing, standard office equipment operation and word processing including Microsoft Word.

    Ability to perform clerical work involving independent judgment and requiring accuracy and speed; spell correctly and use good English; understand and follow oral and written directions; type from a clear copy at a speed of 35 words per minute (TEST GIVEN) and develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents and staff.
