    What You'll Do

    Ohio Department of Public Safety – Emergency Management Agency

    Report In Location:

    2855 W. Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235

    Work Hours:
    7:00AM to 4:00PM

    (CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE) Will report into the office 3 days a week and telework 2 days a week. Subject to change.

    Within the division of Emergency Management Agency (EMA), independently research & analyze complex information to resolve errors (e.g.

    manage Ohio Shared Services (OSS) activities & troubleshoot any issues, questions, &/or concerns; design & run various financial reports (e.g.

    Aging Reports, Encumbrance Balance Reports, Spending Reports, Deposit Reports, OSS Activity Reports, Monthly Budget to Actual Reports, etc.) to support the division's needs); Serve as a liaison with federal accounting systems; Troubleshoot financial issues & determine appropriate action with external involvement (i.e.

    collaborate with the U.S Department of Homeland Security, U.S Department of Transportation, Federal Emergency Management Agency, or U.S Department of Health & Human Services to resolve & reconcile issues with draw of funds, financial reports, deposits, etc.); Update SAM information with the federal government to ensure proper account set-up & reconcile vendor account issues; Code, review & approve financial transactions in OAKS & provide division personnel guidance on funding &/coding; Review, approve, compile, & audit reimbursement billings & coordinates requests (e.

    g. EMAC, disaster recovery, etc.) for EMA & delinquent accounts; Prepare analytics on financial activities & ensure proper cost recovery, budgeting, etc.; Assist budget analysts with forecasting trends &/or analysis; Manage chart fields & Monitor incumbent activity & direct spending & take appropriate actions as necessary.

    Monitor activities in State Disaster Relief Fund and complete quarterly spending updates (e.g. coordinate cost during a disaster declaration or event; compile documentation for potential cost recovery); Monitor & approve travel expenditures in OAKS.


    Provide training to staff on fiscal topics, policies, &/or procedures as needed; Provide recommendations to changes in fiscal policies & procedures; Assist with fiscal audits or federal monitoring visits.

    Assist with public records requests for fiscal records; Perform other duties in the EOC or in the field as required during disaster response & recovery operations or during training exercises.

    42 mos. exp. or 42 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.

    Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 18 mos. exp. or 18 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.
    Or completion of graduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 6 mos. exp. or 6 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.

    Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above


    NOTE:
    Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 mos. of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.
