    POSITION FEATURES:



    This is a Per Diem position.

    PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

    The professional registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 1 is an entry level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program. This role is responsible for providing high-quality care to an assigned group of patients, which includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Delegation of tasks to direct patient care staff may be required. As part of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) healthcare team, this position engages in decision-making, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient care outcomes.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    All duties are expected to be performed following Fresenius Kidney Care policies, procedures, and standards of nursing practice, as well as state and federal regulations.

    • Performs essential functions under supervision and guidance.
    • Conducts systematic data collection and analysis for assigned patients.
    • Assesses and addresses patient/family educational needs.
    • Directs safe delivery of hemodialysis therapy.
    • Administers medications as prescribed and handles emergency responses.
    • Serves as a resource for the healthcare team and participates in training activities.
    • Ensures proper laboratory procedures and patient awareness.
    • Collaborates with the Interdisciplinary Team to update patient care plans.
    • Completes CAP requirements for advancement.
    • Performs other assigned duties.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

    The role involves direct patient care, including heavy lifting, assisting with ambulation, and prolonged standing. The employee must be able to bend over and handle equipment and solutions.

    • Frequent standing and occasional lifting of heavy equipment may be required.
    • The work environment is typical of a healthcare facility.
    • Exposure to infectious materials may occur.
    • Day to day activities include desk work, interaction with patients and staff, and potential travel.
    • Employees are expected to take the Ishihara's Color Blindness test.

    SUPERVISION:

    Responsible for the oversight of Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs with proper qualifications and experience.

    • Completion of FKC education and training.
    • Minimum experience as a RN in hemodialysis units.

    EDUCATION and LICENSURE:

    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
    • Current state licensure and CPR BLS Certification.
    • Must meet practice requirements in the state of employment.

    EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Entry level for RNs with Nephrology Nursing experience.
    • Previous Registered Nurse experience is preferred.
    • Experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis is advantageous.
