    Description
    PA/NP
    • Neurosurgery opening in Phoenix, AZ Responsibilities:
    • Perform new consults, post operative visits, and non operative follow up visits, including histories, physicals, and monitoring therapies.
    • Participate in hospital rounds with attending surgeons, managing patient care collaboratively.
    • Triage patients through emergency room, trauma bay, and transfer services.
    • Coordinate patient care with different service lines and communicate effectively.
    • Educate patients and families, ensuring appropriate home instructions and follow up.
    • Complete necessary documentation and patient discharges.
    • Perform bedside procedures and serve as a first assist to physicians in the operating room.
    • Maintain patient confidentiality.

    Education:

    • Masters degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice from an accredited program (Nurse Practitioner).
    • Masters degree from an accredited physician assistant program (Physician Assistant).

    Requirements:

    Physician Assistant:

    • Current Arizona physician assistant license by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
    • Willing to train new graduates.

    Nurse Practitioner:

    • Current Arizona license for Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse as Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
    • Certification by a national certifying body as approved by the Arizona APRN Board.
    • Willing to train new graduates.
    • NP requirement to act as a first assist in the OR includes completion of a program covering AORN Standards for RN First Assist education programs.

    Note:
    NP working as RNFA in Arizona prior to 1/1/16 can continue without completion of a program
