Description
Duties:
The incumbent serves as a Lead Technical Security Specialist and articulates and communicates to the team the assignment, project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion.
Makes adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks; and ensures each employee has an Integral role in developing the final team product.
Monitors and reports on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the supervisor's Instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines, and quality have been met.
Prepares reports and maintains records of work accomplishments and administrative Information, as required, and coordinates the preparation, presentation, and communication of work-related information to the supervisor.
Estimates and reports to the team on progress in meeting established milestones and deadlines for completion of assignments, projects, and tasks.
Ensures all team members are aware of and participate in planning for achievement of team goals and objectives.
Leads initiatives and provides oversight of work performed by staff consisting of Technical Security Specialists and contractors, in planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of the Section.
Identifies technical vulnerabilities that could compromise sensitive and national security information, records, and documents findings of inspections and writes reports and briefs Congressional staff on inspection findings.
Prepares and reviews reports of technical security surveys and inspections, and advises management officials of deficiencies. Uses initiative and resourcefulness to research and implement new methods and procedures.Establishes security standards for program effectiveness and ensures the Section's compliance. Analyzes existing security program evaluation criteria procedures and guidelines and develops innovative new procedures. Evaluates, modifies, and improves existing technologies including methods, concepts and procedures. Develops and implements test initiatives and test technologies that address program compliance with all applicable regulations. Ensures contractor compliance and provides insight for program and security requirements.

Conditions of Employment:
You must be a U.S. Citizen. Successful completion of a Background Investigation is required. Must complete a one year probationary period.
Qualifications:
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.
For the CP-11/GS-13 you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CP-10/GS-12 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled, and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience is defined as research and development of technological enhancements to identify and neutralize technical penetrations and vulnerabilities that could be used to compromise sensitive and/or national security information.

There is no education substitution for experience in this series and/or grade.
