    Job Description and Duties

    This role supports the mission and strategic plan of the California Department of Public Health by serving as the Accounting Administrator I (Specialist). The main responsibilities include compiling, reviewing, and analyzing a large volume of fiscal activities of high complexity to maintain data integrity. The incumbent performs professional accounting duties that require a deep understanding of State Government Accounting processes. Additionally, they provide technical support and guidance to accounting staff in resolving Month-End Close (MEC) outstanding items and Year End tasks in the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal). This involves reviewing and analyzing complex reports and queries.

    The incumbent operates under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator II (Supervisory), State Unit.

    The duty statement indicates whether this position is eligible for telework. All teleworking employees must be California residents as per Government Code 14200, and may need to report to a CDPH office if required. Candidates living outside California may be interviewed, but the selected candidate must have primary residency in California before appointment and throughout employment. Failure to meet this requirement may lead to the job offer being revoked.
