- Installs desktop hardware and software including peripherals and workstation networking equipment, including imaging, testing, and validation.
- Identifies and initiates resolutions to client problems and concerns associated with office automation equipment, printers, computer hardware, audio/visual equipment, network hardware, telephones, cell phones, and software using effective customer service practices.
- Provides technical information to users requesting assistance and research related technologies when needed.
- Communicates problem resolutions with the user, other team members, and management.
- Follows policies and procedures regarding ticket creation, ticket retrieval, response times, ticket documentation, and resolution documentation.
- Works with Systems Administrators to maintain a consistent level of support for the customer when dealing with LAN/WAN connectivity, software operations, and hardware issues.
- Ensures the performance of all telecommunications equipment; responsible for completing telephone systems installations, hardware testing, and system programming.
- Recommends County standards for desktop hardware and software purchases.
- Follows software, hardware registration, and inventory procedures to ensure full life cycle management of equipment and compliance with software licensing agreements.
- Ensures that the County's assets are managed via the Replacement Plan and the asset management system is maintained and accurate.
- Maintains current technical expertise in the rapidly changing technology of microcomputers (pc's, laptops, pocket pc's, printers, and network gear), communication systems (telephones, voicemail, cellular, radios, pagers, and microwaves), integrated Audio/Visual systems (sound system, microphones, switches, VCR/DVD, projectors, etc.) and utilizes state-of-the-art techniques when implementing office technology solutions.
- Uses deductive reasoning techniques to effectively troubleshoot systems problems; performs standard diagnostics to identify and isolate system troubles; follows established procedures to detect problems and restores system to full functionality; administers tests to verify that the corrective action cleared the problem.
- Operates and maintains tools and testing equipment and cleans work area upon project completion.
- Fulfills department requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods of personal illness, vacation, or education.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
- Evaluates digital products throughout the County to ensure compliance with quality standards and legal requirements.
- Performs (or hires consultants to perform) accessibility tests using evaluation tools, manual testing, and assistive technologies.
- Records and reports results of accessibility tests and makes recommendation for prioritization and remediation of digital assets to improve accessibility year over year.
- Prioritizes accessibility in procuring vendors/resources/professional services, technology systems and tools/ content by evaluating capacity of proposed resources to meet accessibility requirements; Defining accessibility requirements and responsibilities in applicable contracts; Monitoring compliance with contractual requirements related to accessibility.
- Partner with colleagues and team members to prioritize accessibility training to content creators and others using our digital assets.
- Knowledge of (or ability to learn in the first 60 days) public sector regulations related to digital accessibility and disability inclusion, including WCAG 2.1 AA Section 508, and ADA laws.

Position Summary
The IT Support Specialist works as a member of a team responsible for the overall coordination, control, and maintenance of technical equipment and office automation software to ensure compatibility and integration with Lake County strategies. Works as a team member on projects that entail complex coordination of resources, equipment setup, installation, and vendor support. Resolves problems with technical equipment including, but not limited to, PCs, laptops, telephones, cell phones, audio/visual equipment, printers, peripherals, and office automation software. Assists in the coordination and implementation of the technical equipment, software replacements, and maintenance projects. Maintains Lake County hardware and software standards and inventory. Potential hybrid work schedule upon supervisor recommendation.
