    Responsibilities


    Under the direction of senior ERM team members, the Director of Corporate Catastrophe Analysis will help identify, measure and monitor risks which may be significant to the Berkley group of companies.

    Participate in the catastrophe management team by sharing knowledge, expertise, and information, and contribute to broader ERM projects. Model U.S.

    natural perils and terrorism accumulations for property and workers compensation business lines for several of the groups operating companies, and provide catastrophe modeling and analysis through the entire modeling cycle.

    Support the BRAm Treaty team through pre-bind modeling U.S.

    natural perils property, and perform certain elements of corporate reporting on catastrophe modeling, which include:
    RDSs, reinsurance segment reporting, ReMetrica group roll-up, and roll-up of U.S. Domestics in RiskLink.

    Communicate modeling results with the operating companies and assist them in fully utilizing these results in their pricing and exposure management.

    Maintain regular communication with the operating companies to understand business needs. Contribute and provide data and information to support rating agency returns and reinsurance placements. Collate and report on catastrophe aggregations, and assist with corporate reporting on catastrophe modeling.

    Develop broad exposure based models to estimate potential natural peril losses in business lines that do not fit within the commercial catastrophe models.

    Develop and implement reporting and data solutions using SQL Server. Design operations and procedures to improve catastrophe modeling processes. Participate in group assessment of potentially exposed policies during "live" catastrophe events. Perform in depth validation of vendor catastrophe models including evaluation of new model releases. Perform catastrophe modeling for both natural catastrophes and terrorism, including workers compensation, particularly in respect to related insurance coverage. Analyze large datasets with ability to manipulate and obtain pertinent information. Perform statistical analysis on output from catastrophe model to assist with reinsurance purchase. Utilize RMS or similar equivalent catastrophe modeling software. Use SQL coding, VBA programming and MS Excel to query data directly from the catastrophe modeling software.

    Participate in the talent acquisition process, the training of new hires, peer review, and analyze work produced by other members of the ERM team.

    Qualifications

    Education Requirement:
    Bachelor's degree in actuarial science or any relevant STEM degree

    Experience Requirement:
    7 years of catastrophe analysis/modeling experience

    Special Skills:

    Must have work experience with each of the following: (1) Catastrophe modeling for both natural catastrophes and terrorism, including workers compensation, particularly in respect to related insurance coverage; (2) Analyze large datasets with ability to manipulate and obtain pertinent information; (3) Statistical analysis on output from catastrophe model to assist with reinsurance purchase; (4) Experience with RMS or similar equivalent catastrophe modeling software; and (5) SQL coding, VBA programming and MS Excel to query data directly from the catastrophe modeling software.

    Salary:
    $148,782 - $182,900
