Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for Catastrophe Risk Advisor in our Stamford, CT office. This role can be remotely located.Role DescriptionThis role is with
the North America Cat modelling team which is part of the larger Treaty
Underwriting Group. The modelling team is
responsible for delivering catastrophe model analyses output in support of
underwriting and senior management decision making. This role is also expected to research
commercial vendor models as they evolve and assess impacts to Gen Re's internal
view of catastrophe risk. The ideal candidate will possess strong vendor model
knowledge and understanding of reinsurance structures and terms. Experience
using AIR and RMS vendor models is required.
Primary ResponsibilitiesProvide AIR / RMS vendor modeling analyses to underwriters in an accurate and timely mannerAdvise underwriters on modeling assumptions and settings for subject portfoliosLead efforts in vendor model upgrades and platform transition including AIR and RMS Work with colleagues in refining operational process, challenging existing assumptions and protocolsConduct research projects on vendor models to enhance in-house view of catastrophe riskAssist Head of Cat Underwriting in underwriting Property Cat treaties Keep knowledge up to date with vendor model updates and implications Perform analysis on model change impact to Gen Re's portfolioPerform post event modelling analysesRole Qualifications and ExperienceMinimum 10 years of experience with AIR / RMS vendor model workflows.
Familiar with RiskLink, Touchstone and Touchstone ReUnderstanding of reinsurance structures and termsTeam player and strong organizational skills Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn new skills Experience in solving technical problems / challengesMulti-relational database experience (Access, SQL Server) with the ability to write SQL statements.
