    Description
    Honolulu Freight Service is seeking a high performing, detailed-oriented Risk and Compliance Manager to join our team.

    The Risk and Compliance Manager will collaborate closely with teams across our different locations to offer risk-mitigation methods, find opportunities for improvement, lead projects, and implement corporate initiatives.

    This position will report to the Executive Vice President and will use their experience in insurance procurement and transportation to contribute to the operations of the business.


    Job Requirements:
    Develop, implement, and administer effective safety programs and standards for the organization.
    Establish loss prevention programs, procedures and participate in investigations and audits.
    Identify unsafe working conditions or practices and recommend solutions to continuously improve safety and mitigate risk.
    Manage implementation of and adherence to all aspects of Health and Safety, OSHA compliance and applicable laws and regulations.

    Manage and renew commercial insurance lines – Business protection lines, Bonds, Property, G/L, Auto, Inter-change, WC, and Shipper's interest insurance.

    Supply COIs as requested.
    Claims management and investigation; accidents, truckers, auto, shippers, G/L, WC, theft and casualty claims and other claims as needed
    Update and manage UIIA, eModal and other software or systems as required
    Owner Operator/Carrier management; contract review, insurance, and qualifications
    Manage legal claims; work with attorneys as needed to reach resolution
    DOT compliance management; maintain and manage management of DQF for all locations
    Responsible for operations functions including safety, security and risk, compliance and for administration and support of departmental safety programs
    Keep up to date on legal requirements and regulations in relation to risk and safety
    Facilities management; establish building & grounds maintenance programs for all locations
    Develop and implement cost saving measures
    Actively seek and identify areas of process improvement
    Ability to travel as needed
    Other administrative duties as assigned or requested

    Qualification and Skills:
    A minimum of 3 – 5 years' experience working with commercial insurance
    Safety and Risk Management experience.
    Trucking experience preferred.
    Self-directed, energetic, motivated and able to adapt to a changing environment
    Organized and resourceful multi-tasker with attention to detail
    Highly effective interpersonal skills, able to manage a wide variety of requests and projects with diplomacy, humor and tact
    Skilled and tenacious communicator, keeps all necessary parties informed and up to date at all times
    Exercise professionalism, independent judgment, initiative and creativity within the realm of established policies and procedures

    Physical Requirements:
    This position will require the ability to sit or stand for long periods. Use of computer, including a mouse, keyboard, monitor, printer, with or without reasonable accommodations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and to hear.

    The employee frequently is required to sit and stand; walk; use hands to hold, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
