    Program Director, Made for Medicine

    The Columbus Medical Associations Made for Medicine (MfM) program is designed to support African American or Black middle and high school students with an interest in the field of medicine by providing them knowledge, hands-on learning, simulations, case study analyses and mentoring. The vision is to create a future where the medical field reflects the diversity of society, and we aspire to empower the next generation of Black doctors. We are currently hiring for the Program Director Position.

    PURPOSE

    The Program Director is responsible for guiding the organization toward achieving its mission of increasing representation in the medical field, advancing health equity, and fostering diversity in healthcare. This role is pivotal in shaping the strategic direction of the organization, overseeing its operations, and ensuring its financial sustainability in collaboration with the Director.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    1. Assist with developing and executing a strategic educational plan in alignment with the organization's mission and goals and involving appropriate staff and board members; provide visionary leadership to guide the organization's growth and impact.
    2. Oversee day-to-day operations, including program development, financial management, and staff leadership; ensure effective and efficient use of resources.
    3. Secure funding through grants, donations, and partnerships to support program operations and expansion; collaborate with CMAF Development on fundraising campaigns; manage the organization's budget, financial sustainability, and compliance; develop and maintain the annual budget related to the operation of MfM; maintain schedule of annual grant cycles; write and submit proposals and progress reports.
    4. Co-lead the development of innovative and impactful programming that inspire and support the next generation of medical professionals; ensure program quality and effectiveness; stay informed about current educational trends, best practices, and pedagogical methodologies; structure curriculum to ensure a logical progression of topics and activities.
    5. Establish and maintain relationships with Columbus based schools, healthcare institutions, community organizations, and other stakeholders to advance the organization's mission and vision; build and maintain relationships with local, state, and national government entities/officials to support MfM programs.
    6. Collaborate with the leadership team to develop a comprehensive DEI strategy aligned with the organizations mission and values.
    7. Work closely with the Board of Directors to provide regular updates and to seek guidance. Assist the Director with planning and executing quarterly meetings.
    8. Recruit, manage, and mentor a diverse team of professionals, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment; directs staff job results by coaching, training, counseling, as well as planning, monitoring, and appraising job results for direct reports.
    9. Manage the Program Coordinator positions in the planning and execution of all job duties.
    10. Represent the organization within the community regularly and to external audiences, engage in public speaking, and communicate its mission and impact effectively.
    11. Formulate and execute marketing, branding and development strategies that will ensure consistency throughout the organization and enhance revenue from donors, foundations, government agencies, and corporations. This includes oversight of the social media consultant.
    12. Prepare and analyze data; measure outcomes; evaluate the purpose, value, and next phase of programming in order to make effective decisions.
    13. Maintain detailed records and prepare reports and communications as needed.
    14. Interact professionally on a regular basis with staff, vendors, and the general public.
    15. Provide leadership within the job and affiliated organizations as a whole.
    16. Assume additional responsibilities and perform special projects as needed and directed.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Education, Training, and Experience

    1. Bachelors degree
    2. A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a nonprofit, educational, or healthcare equity setting.
    3. Prior experience working in education, public health, health-care and/or non-profit industries
    4. Experience in fundraising, financial management, and program development.
    5. Experience in working with diverse communities and fostering inclusivity.

    9. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, and use of intranet and internet.
    10. Committed to the organization's mission and values.
    11. Ability to competently present information to management and Board of Directors
    12. Collaborative, approachable, and inclusive leadership style.
    13. Effective in building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
    14. Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
    15. Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and effective follow-up skills.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Masters or Doctorate degree in education, public health, or related field and experience working in a non-profit or public service setting.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile, and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files. Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs. independently. Includes occasional evening and weekend hours as business needs demand. Occasional travel may also be required. Requires participation and attendance at organization sponsored events and meetings.
