    Job Summary

    The Associate Dean is responsible for the fiscal and academic health of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies and will ensure the Dean has the necessary information for informed decision-making. The Associate Dean will collaborate with the senior leadership team to drive the college's strategic plan forward and create an atmosphere of coordination and a clear understanding of the school's mission, vision, and goals. The Associate Dean will provide high quality, creative, and solutions-oriented direction and expertise at the strategic, academic, operational, and administrative levels of the school. The Associate Dean is responsible for all financial and academic administration activities at the College, including but not limited to, recruitment, academic support, budget development and management, personnel management, financial policies, procedures and controls, financial aid, strategic initiatives and facilities and technology management. The Associate Dean demonstrates an acute familiarity with fiscal management through the preparation and tracking of budgets within the school.

    Essential Functions
    • Provides excellent judgment, diplomacy, and understanding of school issues to support the Dean.
    • In close coordination with the Dean, act as liaison with the following administrative areas for the School:
      • Drexel Office of Human Resources
      • The College of Medicine Office of Finance
      • Drexel Information Technology
      • Drexel Facilities Management Office
      • The College of Medicine Office of Faculty Affairs
    • Oversee the planning and implementation of the annual budget under responsibility center management planning practices to meet financial targets.
    • In close coordination with the Dean, manages overall business and finances of the Graduate
    • School including daily oversight, long term strategic planning, deliver regular reports and
    • variance analyses to stakeholders, and serve as a financial advising resource to the Dean of the Graduate School.
    • Set goals and key performance indicators to enhance student achievement, engagement, retention, and graduation.
    • Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate retention and graduation efforts to enhance the student experience.
    • Operational Excellence: Oversee student success unit operations and monitor performance effectively.
    • Data-informed decision-making, lead data-driven decision-making to improve student outcomes.
    • Barrier Removal, identify and address internal policies hindering student success in collaboration with campus partners.
    • Action-oriented, monitor and take appropriate action on programs, processes, and resources impacting students.
    • Prepare enrollment, revenue, and expense projections tracking projection against actual.
    • Analyze tuition trends forecasting downstream revenue and fiscal viability of academic
    • programs.
    • Create and deliver routine budget reports and forecasts, analysis of variance and P&L
    • statements.
    • Examine P&L's presenting recommendations, findings, and financial status reports.
    • Oversee efficient processing of adjunct appointments.
    • Direct day to day academic and business operations and transactions including revenue and tuition tracking, purchasing, accounts payable and receivable activities and payroll including payroll reconciliation. Reconcile and resolve accounting discrepancies with appropriate university offices and external vendors.
    • Coordinate and support human resources processes in conjunction with HRIS, Compensation, and Talent Management to ensure accurate and timely appointments and payments.
    • Work with the Office of Information Technology in managing the IT requirements for the school.
    • Plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate the specific programs, services, and functions designed.
    • to meet the School's objectives related to enrollment management and optimizing net tuition revenue.
    • Evaluate and improve the practices of the student enrollment experience, including timely, effective, and positive engagement with students throughout the entirety of their experience with Admissions, FA, and the Registrar.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.
    Enrollment Management
    • Monitor and oversee Director of Graduate Admission and Recruitment.
    • Ensure that there is proper coordination of all enrollment activities and operations related to admissions and registration.
    • Counsel and advise staff and students on a variety of enrollment and administrative matters related to admission and registration and retention.
    • Prepare appropriate reports; analyze and evaluate enrollment and retention data; project student enrollment and retention figures to be used in strategic decision-making.
    Academic programs and curriculum
    • Support new academic programs and programs revisions.
    • Promote collaboration and cross-unit and cross-college programs.
    • Encourage course offerings, course, and program enrollments.
    • Ensure academic standards, program review, and accreditation matters.
    Marketing and Communications
    • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications department to create executive-level.
    • communications (talks, speeches, reports, presentations) that reflect the Dean's voice and goals.
    • Ensure central marketing efforts support the recruitment goals of the school.
    • Develop and coordinate marketing materials that directly impact student enrollment.
    Student Affairs and Success
    • Student progress, retention, and graduation.
    • Student advising, academic assistance, and career planning.
    • Student discipline issues. Faculty Affairs
    • Recruitment, orientation, development, and mentoring.
    • Assistance with grants submission.
    Faculty Affairs
    • Recruitment, orientation, development, and mentoring.
    • Assistance with grants submission.
    • Faculty evaluation oversight.
    • Teaching assignments and evaluation of instruction
    • Faculty productivity assessment
    • Promotion and tenure, reappointment, structured reviews
    • Faculty awards and recognition programs.
    Research Administration
    • Support the development of grant proposals.
    • Tracking funded research and research compliance.
    • Relationships with ORI to support funding administration.
    Required Qualifications
    • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or Equivalent.
    • Five years of experience in an academic setting
    • Superior financial management skills a must
    • Fluency in SCT Banner system and knowledge of Hyperion data tool strongly preferred.
    • Proficiency in business software applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
    • Entrepreneurial, results-oriented style with strong organizational and analytical ability.
    • Ability to determine priorities and lead operations.
    • Strong written and verbal skills with a demonstrated ability to draft communications.
    • Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to create strong relationships with a wide range of professionals and support staff.
    • Demonstrated ability to innovate, think strategically, and conceptualize.
    • Ability to anticipate problems and develop resolution strategies.
    • Proficiency in analyzing data and using data in decision-making and reporting.
    • Ability to manage multiple, complex, and rapidly changing priorities.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative organization.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in non-profit accounting.
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead a team of professionals including ability to set metrics for employee goals, manage resources and establish clear expectations.
    • Strong listening skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to lead, motivate, and influence or persuade others.
    • Effective computer skills including proficiency with MS Office Suite
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Masters degree is preferred.

    Additional Information

    This position is classified as exempt, grade P. Compensation for this grade ranges from $ 129,850.00 to $ 194,770.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
