The Financial Planning and Operations Analyst reports to the Chief Operating and Financial Officer of the Wharton School.

    The Financial Planning and Operations Analyst will serve as a member of the Finance team at Wharton Finance & Administration, providing centralized, comprehensive, and sophisticated financial analyses for the various departments and areas at the school.

    The position will help provide analysis and support for the COO/CFO as well as the areas that report into this position.

    This analysis will vary from simple historical trending to in-depth analysis to understand changes in business units, departments and areas over time.

    The position will help create content that enables senior level decision making.

    Job Description The position will also help develop and support certain key strategic projects over the next year, including the restricted funds optimization project as well as a project to develop and track performance metrics across the F&A areas.

    In addition, the position may act on an as-needed basis, as redundant support for the centralized and decentralized Business Administrator community at the school (covering for temporarily vacancies or leaves).

    In this capacity the position will have responsibility for operating budgets and financial analysis/modeling, working with stakeholders to manage their budgets, allocating school funds, gift and endowment funds appropriately and reporting to the senior leadership on trends, cash positions, financial performance, and cash flow management.

    The role would also potentially backfill other BA functions such as HR/Workday/Payroll support, as well as purchasing and operational activities.

    Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Knowledge of Penn's financial systems a plus.
    Previous financial planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting experience.
    Advanced technical skills (financial modeling).

    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, including professional email writing skills and the ability to enforce policies and guidelines diplomatically but assertively, including with those at higher levels.
