The Director of Human Resources is a trusted business partner that will influence and implement strategic change aligned with company goals, and directly manage 1 direct report (the HR Generalist).The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the entire HR function, including, the overall administration, oversight, coordination, and evaluation of all HR matters & initiatives.
This person must be an outgoing individual who is able to connect and coach with all levels of our organization, including 100 staff and 13 leadership team members.
This individual will report directly to our CFO and support a mostly remote work environment at Professional Benefit Administrators (PBA).
Role RequirementsBachelor's degree in Human Resource Management preferred, or 6+ years of related work experience.
6+ years of experience leading an HR department with at least 1 direct report.
6+ years of Generalist HR experience in most, if not all, of the various aspects of the HR function: (e.g. payroll (Paylocity), benefits, compensation, labor compliance, recruitment, employee relations, performance and personnel management)
Experience leading & facilitating training for all levels of the organization, including: performance management, remote work culture building, setting goals and tracking KPIs, building out training materials from scratch and working with subject matter experts throughout the organization to design and develop applicable training guides.
Soft Skills
Proven leadership skills and prior change management experience preferred.
Strong and effective communication skills in both written and oral.
Must be trustworthy and dependable as you will ultimately be responsible for overseeing payroll (HR Generalist processes bi-weekly payroll).
Open minded and desire to learn, grow and receive feedback in a welcoming way.
Ability to quickly problem solve as well as give and receive constructive criticism.
Must be able to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner so that you get along with subordinates, customers, clients, co-workers, and management.

A Plus
PHR or SPHR certification is a plus.
PBA uses the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). Knowledge of EOS and the How to be a Great Boss program is a plus.
Responsible for
Motivate positive change by evaluating the effectiveness of current processes and offer solution-focused recommendations & action plans to promote staff and organizational development.
Oversight of the entire HR function and initiatives, including managing 1 direct report and supporting an employee population of 100 employees, and 13 leadership team members.
Leading strong initiatives to build out training and development programs at PBA, including industry training, departmental training, cross-training opportunities, and developmental training for next level leaders tying into succession planning.
The major areas directed are:
Recruiting and staffing, including background checks
Performance management and improvement
Organizational development
Employee orientation, including HIPAA training
Policy development and documentation
Employee relations
Compensation and benefits administration (medical, dental, EAP, 401 (K), others).
Work with ownership to actively manage the company's self-funded health plan.
Employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health
Consulting with outside legal counsel as appropriate on personnel matters.
Assisting managers with reviews/counseling employees and ensuring documentation is completed.
Maintaining knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensuring compliance.
PBA operates in a heavy HIPAA environment in part based on the nature of our business, administering self-insurance health plans.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets. Essential office equipment will be provided to perform the job duties remotely.
The person in this position will be expected to work in the office roughly 2 times per month. The other days can be worked either in the office or remotely.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role which requires the ability to sit for long periods of time.
To perform the physical requirements of the position, the employee must be able to: possess manual dexterity in his or her hands to type; sit; stand; report to work for regularly scheduled work shifts and occasional overtime; communicate clearly, cooperatively, and professionally with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and outside vendors; and maintain professional relationships with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and outside vendors.
Although we allow some flexible scheduling including work from home several days per week as set forth below, this position requires regular daily interaction with co-workers, clients, vendors, and contacts.
PBA's policy on working remotely requires the use of Microsoft Teams for meetings, with the camera on at all times.
Essential Functions StatementThe person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, subordinates, customers and vendors via phone and email. The person in this position must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
