Job Objective:
Under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist and the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor performs routine and basic pharmacy procedures for the operation of an acute care pharmacy to assist the Pharmacists.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists Pharmacist in proper labeling of medications, processes medications orders and those returned to Pharmacy.
- Assists Pharmacist in preparing labels.
- Assures adequate inventory is maintained at all times.
- Assures and credit and billing tasks are completed in a timely and thorough manner.
- Maintains professional work habits by organizing workload, setting priorities, completing assignments in a timely manner, utilizing resources appropriately, complying with department program standards and adapts well to change.
- Performs basic pharmacy procedures such as checking in merchandise, filling physician's orders for pharmacy verification, floor stock, preparing IV's and TPN's.
- Recognizes departures from the normal and discusses with pharmacist.

- Maintains an appropriate level of competence by ongoing development of knowledge and skills.
- Performs duties in accordance with relevant laws, regulations and technical standards.
- Participates in age specific educational and training programs.

- Refrains from disclosing confidential information acquired in the course of work except when authorized, unless legally obligated to do so.
- Refrains from using or appearing to use confidential information acquired in the course of work for unethical or illegal advantage either personally or through third parties.

Education and Experience:
Education
- High School diploma.
- Associate of Arts or Bachelors Degree preferred.
Experience
- Prior experience in acute care hospital OR a minimum of 2 years experience in a pharmacy preferred.
Required Licensure and/or Certifications:
- Current State of California Pharmacy Technician License.
- CPHT preferred.
