    Job Summary:
    The University Information Technology Services (UITS) department at the University of Massachusetts is looking for an experienced Application Development Manager (Manager, Applications) to join a dynamic team of tech professionals supporting the institution's mission.     Essential Functions:
    The Manager, Application Development - PeopleSoft will lead a team of PeopleSoft developers specializing in HCM, Finance, and Student areas. Responsibilities include collaborating with application teams and vendors to understand user requirements, prioritize development tasks, and ensure adherence to SDLC processes and standards.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Managing priorities and resource allocation for development teams
    • Serving as Project Manager for internal projects as needed
    • Promoting and ensuring compliance with professional and industry standards, regulations, and University policies
    • Documenting and tracking work using IT service management and project tracking tools
    • Collaborating with end users, vendors, and management to guarantee applications align with business goals
    • Identifying opportunities for modernizing or automating applications
    • Engaging with University executives, departments, and users, acting as a technical advisor to UITS staff and users
    • Fostering a culture of continuous learning and showcasing UITS' Most Valued Behaviors
    Required Job Skills/Professional Competencies:
    The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and analytical skills, balancing technical requirements with end-user needs effectively.
    Must have demonstrated expertise in:
    • Software development lifecycle methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall
    • Relational databases
    • Capturing and documenting client/end-user requirements accurately
    • Developing, enhancing, and supporting applications across diverse platforms
    Professional proficiency in:
    • Continuously learning new skills and technologies
    • Leading teams, offering feedback, guidance, and mentoring
    • Maintaining confidentiality and acting independently
    • Collaborating with external partners while upholding standards and best practices
    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience):
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent
    • Seven+ years of application development experience
    • Three+ years as a team lead or lead developer
    • Strong leadership skills and ability to lead development teams on varied projects
    • Experience with PeopleSoft HCM, Finance, and/or Campus Solutions applications
    • Expertise in PeopleSoft version 9.2 or higher, including PeopleTools 8.56 or higher, Application Designer, PeopleCode, and more
    • Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 A and AA requirements
    • Knowledge of WAI-ARIA authoring guidelines and version control systems like GitHub
    • Accountability and proficiency in working independently and mentoring colleagues
    Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience):
    • Experience with source code control tools like Phire
    • Knowledge of Secure SDLC standards
    • Oracle or SQL database experience
    • Understanding of threat modeling and Robotic Process Automation
    • Management experience and exposure to Salesforce
    • Experience in the higher education sector
    Working Conditions:
    Occasional evening and weekend work for scheduled maintenance and projects. Hybrid work setup with some travel to campuses.
    Additional Details:
    Salary up to $145,000, commensurate with experience.
