    The Robinson Laboratory in the

    Division of Immunology and Rheumatology


    in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University is seeking a Scientific Writer and Project Manager to collaborate with lab members and collaborating Faculty to orchestrate and write interdisciplinary grants and to manage interdisciplinary programs.

    This individual will play a key role in formulating scientific strategy and will oversee planning.

    The Robinson Laboratory performs cutting edge, interdisciplinary translational investigation of the role of the immune system in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and osteoarthritis, with the role of rapidly translating findings into next-generation diagnostics and therapeutics.

    The incumbent will have the opportunity to play a leading role in helping our Division advance investigation of these diseases and development of next-generation diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.


    Duties include:


    Support the management of complex interdisciplinary scientific programs and work to develop and achieve synergies between laboratory members, collaborating Faculty, and other programs.

    Shape interdisciplinary scientific program research objectives, and fostering interactions and synergies between investigators, collaborating labs and projects.

    Track timelines, deliverables, milestones, reporting requirements and progress reports, and work with faculty and project staff to ensure timelines deliverables, and reporting requirements are met.

    Coordinate and facilitate regular collaborative meetings and discussions for planning, experimental design, review of data, and achieving program synergies.

    Develop research ideas for translational immunology and rheumatology scientific themes and key questions, and work to integrate scientific projects to recognize synergies between them to generate grant applications and programs of high impact.

    The writing and scientific program coordination and integration this position will do is extremely complex and requires expertise and knowledge on how to assimilate data, scientific projects, conclusions and how to oversee others with their writings and in producing an integrated and scientifically compelling proposal.

    This includes a high level of detail, and knowledge and scientific concepts, clinical concepts, figures and wording and reference checking and interacting with other authors to ensure a highly integrated, rigorous and readable product.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
    PHD, MD, or other advanced degree required in a scientific field related to translational immunology or science.
    3 years of grant writing and editing experience, with experience working on NIH proposals.
    3 years of experience writing and editing articles for scientific journals.
    Experience using Adobe Illustrator, Graphpad and Endnote.
    Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Advanced degree may be required for some programs. For jobs with financial responsibilities, experience managing a budget and developing financial plans.


    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
    PhD-level understanding of scientific principles.
    Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources.
    Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
    Ability to oversee and direct staff.
    Basic knowledge of managing budgets and developing financial plans.

    The expected pay range for this position is $95,000 - $125,000 per annum.

    Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position.

    The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years since their applicable education, field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal equity; among other factors.
