    Iowa city Hospice and the Visiting Nurse Association are seeking a dynamic and compassionate part time Communications Coordinator to join our hospice and home health team. This is 20 hour per week opportunity with a working schedule between the hours of 8AM - 5PM weekdays that might include occasional extended hours.

    As the Communications Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing public awareness, fostering community engagement, and supporting our mission as our primary grant writer. The ideal candidate will be organised, engaged in strong communication skills, creative thinking abilities, and a passion for promoting hospice care as an integral part of end-of-life support.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies to raise awareness of hospice services, programs, and initiatives within the community.
    • Create engaging content for various communication channels, including website, social media platforms, newsletters, brochures, and press releases.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to gather stories, testimonials, and updates that highlight the impact of hospice care on patients and families.
    • Manage the organization's social media presence, including posting regular updates, responding to inquiries, and monitoring online engagement.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with local media outlets, reporters, and influencers to secure media coverage and promote hospice-related events and activities.
    • Coordinate special events, outreach activities, and educational workshops to connect with healthcare providers, community organizations, and the general public.
    • Develop and distribute educational materials and resources to support patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals in understanding hospice services and end-of-life care options.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communications efforts through metrics, analytics, and feedback mechanisms, and adjust strategies as needed to achieve goals and objectives.Responsible for written and graphics communication to enhance brand recognition, increase utilization of services, educate audiences about agency services, procure development and grant funding, and guide agency culture.
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree in communications, PR, marketing and/or journalism)
    • Prefer a minimum three - five years' experience in communications, public relations, or marketing, preferably in healthcare or nonprofit sector and experience with grant writing.
    • Monitors and manage multiple projects in respect to content, budget and timelines, reporting and measuring outcomes and meeting project goals.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Compassionate and empathetic towards patients and families
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
    • Strong working knowledge and experience with computer operating systems and web content. Prefer working knowledge with platforms, and content management systems, Adobe Creative and Microsoft office applications including PowerPoint.
    • Fluent in in social media trends and content management with digital marketing tools,
    • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a passion for storytelling and community engagement
    • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse populations
    • Commitment to the mission and values of hospice and Home care service, with sensitivity to end-of-life issues and experiences
    • Car, driver's license and adequate insurance as outlined in the personnel policies is required.
