Our Product Buyers (Product Managers) take pride in marketing the companies brand with current and potential suppliers. Enjoys the challenge of todays supply chain, while maximizing procurement deal potential, and managing several suppliers.
In this job, a Product Buyer will confer with our Sales Department and our suppliers to determine optimal product inventory to fulfill our customer orders. As such, this position is ideal for an individual who is passionate about his/her detail-oriented skills and finds considerable satisfaction with the job environment being more about creating vs. maintaining.
**How you will spend your time as a Product Buyer (Product Manager):**
Determine the Sales Departments (and ultimately the end customers) product demand needs ensuring that the correlating product inventory is available
Negotiate and execute purchasing agreements with suppliers, analyze purchasing trend data and recommend timing and quantity of purchases
Monitor inventory cycle time/turnover and product availability and adjust inventory accordingly.
Create, submit, and expedite purchase orders that align with business objectives (e.g., availability of a product in relation to competitors, gross profit, etc.)
Respond to inquiries regarding inventory availability and/or associated replenishment lead time questions and requests from Sales team members
Manage multiple supplier/product lines concurrently and successfully adjusts to changing demand priorities
Prepare short-term and/or long term product inventory forecasts
Evaluate the ongoing potential to expand existing supplier relationships for new products to distribute
Compile and analyze reports from proprietary software (i.e. WindX)
Build effective relationships with suppliers via targeted strategies (e.g., site visits to suppliers facilities, hosting suppliers at Master Electronics distributions sites, etc.)
Manage factory backlog by adjusting to changing demand and supply.
Review and distribute pertinent information/data from managed suppliers to sales and other departments
Review the competitive landscape to remain competitive.
**Were excited if you have:**
Minimum 2+ years of buying or procurement experience, preferably for a distribution center
Minimum of an Associates degree (e.g. A.A., A.S., etc.)
Proficient in the use of Microsoft (MS) Office, with a focus on demonstrated working MS Excel experience
Strong negotiation skills
Ability to apply creative problem-solving techniques to situations using sound business judgment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task in an effective, timely, and professional manner
Proven ability to apply attention to detail, role-related accuracy, and task follow-through
Team-oriented operating style with effective interpersonal skills that allow successful business interactions with individuals of all leadership styles, personalities, and career levels (e.g. sales, accounting, logistics, warehouses)
**We would prefer if you have:**
Previous purchasing, product management, or procurement experience in the electronics/electrical component industry
An understanding of Supply Chain and Supply Chain Processes / Expectations
A strong literacy in electronic/electrical components
