- Promote a mindset of operational excellence across the organization through standardization, process controls, and defect prevention.
- Provide training for plant personnel on quality concepts, such as Root Cause Analysis, Quality Containment, Error Proofing, Risk Reduction, and Customer Interface Characteristics.
- Analyze current work practices to identify opportunities for improvement; recommend countermeasures to optimize performance.
- Create and maintain required Standardize Work Documents, including work sequence charts, cycle time studies, and labor utilization.
- Support safety via ergonomic analysis and development of corrective actions that reduce risk of work-related strains.
- Develop visual controls and signage in the plant to reinforce quality standards and on-the-fly problem solving.
- Lead cross-functional team in multiple day, rapid improvement kaizen events that optimize quality, scrap, or other performance metrics.
- Report progress to WCM Lead and ensure progress towards cost-savings goals are achieved.
- Empower employees to lead continuous improvement in their own work areas via quality workshops, assisting with implementing improvements, and recognizing employees for their contributions.
- Ensure improvement activities are being communicated, understood, and supported with quality in mind throughout the organization.
- Support launch of new programs by working with engineers to identify Customer Interface Characteristics, validate Error Proofing address high risk features, and include Quality countermeasures in operator Standard Work Instructions.
- Lead large and small-scale projects to improve quality control via operator standard work (visual controls, time studies, improved gauges, etc.)
- Be a key leader in the organization, participate in plant meetings (from high level strategy sessions down to daily walks).
- Demonstrated ability to effect change in a manufacturing environment and ensure improvement activity is being communicated, understood, and supported within the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups and deliver quality training.
- High aptitude for problem solving and analytical thinking.
- Highly organized, able to work with limited direct supervision, motivated to successfully meet deadlines, attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to read and understand quality standards.
- Ability to manage the execution of complex projects.
- Demonstrate the ability to build collaborative relationships and influence others.
- Verbal and written communication skills; able to clearly articulate ideas and manage the change process.
- High School Diploma or GED required
- B.S. degree in Engineering (preferred), or minimum 5 years' experience in quality
