We are currently looking for a Safety Manager for all of our shoreside locations which includes the ports and our offices around the country and Europe. This role is part of the leadership team and will drive the safety performance across both our ports and offices. You will be working alongside the port and office leadership team mentoring them on all aspects of health and safety.
P&O Ferries places safety as its paramount concern and so this role is a key part of delivering the safety agenda across the business. You will work with our parent company DP World to help develop systems, skills and safety behaviours across the company.
The port safety side will be the vast majority of the work in this role as there are more hazards within those locations. You will strive towards a long term zero accident performance level and develop, promote, embed and monitor the use of HSE systems to achieve that.
You will be collating all of the monthly HSE performance stats for the executive committee and board based on timely and accurate input from the port and all offices. There will also be work around auditing port operations as well learning from any accidents or near misses.
You will also be providing leadership, guidance, direction and ongoing training of the Port HSE Team. This is an incredibly important role for the business and will require an exceptional individual to manage a team striving for excellence and zero harm
To be successful in this role it is essential that you have the following skills.:
Experience of developing and delivering a H&S policy in a large, diverse organisation ideally within the maritime sector
A deep understanding of Health and safety including a degree in a relevant H&S related subject and relevant HSE qualifications
Experience managing a large number of stakeholders with conflicting demands
Experience of working in a zero harm environment with an emphasis on continuous improvement
Demonstrable experience of developing safety learnings
An understanding of developing H&S policy within a corporate vision and the ability to think globally about the impact of H&S policy.
