- Assist the divisions in the implementation and management of their safety program
- Conduct thorough investigations and analysis of incidents, accidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and contributing factors. Generate detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions and continual improvement
- Act as point of contact for addressing employee concerns regarding health and safety policy
- Develop, implement and monitor compliance with the company's safety policies and procedures
- Ensure that federal, state and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules are observed, and that OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met
- Oversee interactions with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration
- Deliver effective safety training sessions to employees at all levels ensuring a comprehensive understanding of DRH safety protocols and promoting a proactive safety culture and set policy for interaction with subcontractors and trade partners
- Maintain organized and up-to-date safety documentation, including incident reports, inspection records, and training records
- Develop and maintain a training reference library and other educational materials
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices, continuously enhancing knowledge and skills in construction safety
- Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
- Ability to travel overnight
- Supervises 2 or more employees
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Occupational Safety and Health (preferably with concentration in Construction Safety) or equivalent designation
- Seven years related experience and/or training
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA, environmental law and health and safety at work state and federal legislation
- Proven skills to identify onsite construction hazards and recommend/implement elimination, mitigation or controls
- Proven knowledge of construction equipment, methods, and processes and how to incorporate best safe practices in daily activities
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate with others at all levels of the organization
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
- Proficiency with MS Office and email
- Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; climb, balance and stoop, crouch or crawl; walk up and down stairs; climb ladders and scaffolding; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision
- During construction site visits, exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places and risk of electrical shock
- The noise level is generally moderate but can be loud at active construction site
- Certified Safety Director (CSD), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification a plus
- Experience conducting safety training a plus
- OSHA 30 and OSHA 510 certifications are preferred
