Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for three Program Officer 1's for Cooperative Extension- Clark County. These positions are located in Las Vegas, Nevada. ***These positions do not provide layoff rights and are contingent upon funding. The purpose of these jobs are to administer, supervise, plan, and help evaluate the policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) interventions implemented in community-based sites. These positions will work with groups across the lifespan (early childhood, school-aged children, adults) and community approaches, as identified by county needs. PSE programming includes organizing professional development for site staff, training site staff as it pertains to nutrition and physical activity, developing wellness committee at sites, facilitating environmental assessments, suggesting allowable interventions to address environmental findings, developing nutrition standards guidance at sites, and assessing sustainability of sites. These positions will receive immediate programmatic support from its direct supervisor, as directed by the state level SNAP-Ed administrative team (Principal Investigator, Program Coordinators, Evaluation Analyst) and with input from the Nutrition Specialists.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment; OR
  
• Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of para-professional program support experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service which required the application of State and/or federal laws, policy and procedures; reviewing documents prepared by others for program compliance determinations; or preparing reports which summarize financial and statistical information; OR
  
• An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
  

A valid Class "C" Nevada driver's license or higher operator's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Schedule

The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 31 (Entry, Step 01 $23.49/hr - Step 03 $25.57/hr)

In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
