/Job Summary

Custodian Lead Job Description

The Custodian Lead supports, gives direction, and provides training for the Custodians. The position also provides the cleaning and upkeep of area, especially for vacancies.

Essential Functions

+ Cleans and maintains buildings/facilities. Performs heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.

+ Complies with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the Company, Clients, and regulatory authorities

+ Custodian must be flexible and willing to complete all tasks that are assigned.

Responsibilities

+ Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them. Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.

+ Sometimes using ladders, dusts and washes furniture, walls, machines, and equipment; cleans ceilings and dusts and polishes light fixtures.

+ May be required to move cabinets, boxes, furniture, and equipment to clean areas, either manually or by using hand trucks

+ May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.

+ Mixes water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications

+ Cleans and vacuums carpeted areas, including application of spot cleaning treatment

+ Gathers and empties trash

+ Wipes and cleans tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas

+ Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures

+ Services, cleans, and supplies restrooms

+ Periodically cleans overhead vents, dusts blinds, and polishes wood furniture

+ Cleans interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees

+ Must keep janitor's closet neat and orderly and maintain equipment in good working order

Qualifications:

+ Ability to provide cleaning services within a commercial, industrial or residential environment.

+ Demonstrated history of related cleaning experience preferably with a major institution, and a solid work ethic.

Additional Responsibilities:

+ Adhere to safety policies and procedures

+ Understand the employee handbook, hazard communication program, bloodborne pathogen procedure and all safety policies and procedures.

+ Participate in monthly safety training.

Physical Requirements

+ Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

+ Push and pull up to 50 lbs.

+ Stands and moves within assigned work area, or building for 6 to 7 hours (excluding breaks and lunch)

+ Some bending, stooping and reaching as necessary to complete the work
