    Under the direction of the Custodian Area Foreman, supervise a small crew and maintain assigned rooms, equipment, buildings and adjacent areas in a clean, orderly and secure manner.


    Job Description / Essential Elements:
    SANTA ANA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT INTERMEDIATE LEAD CUSTODIAN BASIC FUNCTION:
    Under the direction of the Custodian Area Foreman, supervise a small crew and maintain assigned rooms, equipment, buildings and adjacent areas in a clean, orderly and secure manner


    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
    Lock doors and windows; turn lights on and off; replace bulbs and tubes. E Move, adjust and clean furniture and equipment; lower flag.

    E Sweep sidewalks; sweep, mop, wax and scrub floors; spot clean and vacuum carpet; clean floors as needed for breakage, spillage or illness.

    E Clean chalkboards, trays and erasers; clean toilets, sinks and drinking fountains; fill paper towel dispenser and toilet tissue dispenser.

    E Empty and clean waste receptacles; empty pencil sharpeners. E Wash windows and walls; dust counters, shelves, ledges, bookcases, electrical fixtures, desks, etc. E Report need for repair of equipment. E Supervise the work of two or more Custodians. E Perform minor maintenance to buildings and grounds during student vacation periods. Perform related duties as assigned.


    KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

    KNOWLEDGE OF:

    Methods, materials and equipment used in cleaning and maintaining various types of building surfaces and school furniture and equipment.

    Health and safety regulations. Common hazards to safety found in and around buildings.


    ABILITY TO:
    Understand and follow oral and written directions. Work cooperatively with others. Work independently with little direction. Lift heavy objects. Meet schedules and time lines. Supervise the work of others. Perform the essential functions of the job.


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Any combination equivalent to one year school custodial training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge of abilities listed above.


    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    ENVIRONMENT:
    School environment. Outside may be adverse weather conditions.


    PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
    Hearing and speaking to exchange information. Standing and walking for extended periods of time. Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects, normally not exceeding sixty (60) pounds. Reaching over head, above the shoulders and horizontally. Seeing to perform custodial work. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate custodial equipment. Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching.


    HAZARDS:
    Cleaning chemicals.
