    Senior Lead Data Engineer

We are looking for Data Engineers passionate about combining data with cutting-edge technologies. As a Capital One Senior Lead Data Engineer, you'll drive a major transformation within the company.

    TEAM

    As a Senior Lead Engineer in Finance tech, you will work across Finance, Capital One Lines of Business, and Enterprise Functions to develop patterns, playbooks, and tools supporting standards and data models. Collaborate with other teams to shape the Finance Tech Data Strategy.

    What You'll Do:

    • Design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions
    • Lead a team with experience in tech areas like machine learning and distributed systems
    • Use programming languages such as SQL, Python, and tools like databricks, iceberg, presto, graphql
    • Stay updated on tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and mentor team members
    • Work with data product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions
    • Develop unit testing guidelines and ensure code performance
    • Mentor engineering associates to scale data product development
    • Establish key modeling principles and provide guidance to engineering teams
    • Review and assess team designs alignment with architecture and data strategy
    • Drive Data Product delivery roadmap aligned with business outcomes
    • Understand data models in the ecosystem and impact of technical decisions
    • Collaborate with tech leadership to make data governance decisions

    Basic Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 8+ years of application development experience
    • 2+ years of big data technologies experience
    • 1+ year experience with cloud computing platforms

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Master's Degree
    • 9+ years of application development experience with Python, SQL, Scala, or Java
    • 4+ years of public cloud experience (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
    • 5+ years of experience with Distributed data/computing tools
    • 4+ years of real-time data and streaming applications experience
    • 4+ years of data warehousing experience
    • 4+ years of UNIX/Linux experience
    • 2+ years of devops experience
    • 2+ years of graphQL experience
    • 2+ years of Agile engineering practices experience
