    Job Summary:


    The Senior Associate Director of External Relations will be responsible for the creation and execution of a comprehensive strategy for engaging corporate and other potential external partners with faculty, staff, and students in the College of Arts and Science.

    Will manage, build, cultivate and sustain relationships with specific external organizations and other stakeholders to enhance experiential learning programs, support co-curricular programs, and provide internship/job opportunities for CAS graduates.

    This Senior Associate Director reports to the Dean of CAS and the Director of Employer Relations in the Center for Career Exploration and Success.


    Duties/Physical Demands:
    The Senior Associate Director of External Relations duties will include:


    • Manage, identify and advance relationships with relevant industries to support and enhance experiential learning programs, to support co-curricular programs and centers, to increase the number of companies and agencies working directly with CAS departments/centers.
    • Collaborate with the academic leadership of the CAS and CCES to understand the curriculum and in turn be able to represent the learning outcomes when meeting with external partners. Liaise with CAS senior leadership on student behavior and employer feedback regarding CAS students.
    • Identify educational needs of employers and their employees and align with CAS current and potential new programs or certificate offering programs.
    • Work with marketing professionals within Miami University and the CAS and CCES to support CAS external relations and build and tell a compelling story for how CAS and CCES supports students in their career development.
    • Coordinate closely with the CAS academic departments, graduate programs, centers, institutes, and University Advancement. Maintain interdepartmental relationships to exchange relevant information and collaborate on events.
    • Coordinate classroom visits, project/case-based learning, and other experiential learning opportunities with CAS alumni. Plan campus visits for alumni engaging in these activities and identify strong alumni partners for job shadowing, internship, and career opportunities for students.
    • Take a leadership role with career fairs throughout the academic year. Solicit employer registrations, help with messaging to employers, and engage employers in career fair prep workshops.
    • Serve as the Employer Relations Team lead for employers seeking candidates with CAS majors and those employers interested in recruiting candidates from all majors - employer engagement meetings (should be overlapped with academic engagement for CAS). Source employers that would appeal to students in these clusters. Maintain detailed records of engagement activities in appropriate systems.
    • Educate employers on the unique skills, strengths, and experiences students with CAS majors can bring to their internships and full-time opportunities. Encourage employers open to candidates from all majors to strongly consider CAS majors as excellent applicants.
    • Identify faculty career champions in the College of Arts and Science who are open to inviting employers to speak to their classes and help facilitate those connections. Partner closely with CAS career advisors within CCES to secure employer participation in CAS-focused programming.

    Minimum Qualifications:


    Bachelor's degree with 8 years of industry experience; established record of accomplishment of identifying, developing, and managing relationships, particularly with organizations that appeal to majors within the College of Arts and Science.


    Desired Qualifications:


    Consideration may be given to candidates with a Master's degree and 10 years or more of broad industrial administration experience.

    Emphasis on sales and marketing preferred. Event planning experience. Outstanding interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational skills; familiarity with desktop publishing software; ability to travel.
