- Continuous evaluation of quality metrics such as hospital acquired conditions, falls, safe process measures, Veteran and Employee satisfaction scores, and others as identified.
- Collaborates with nurse manager and unit schedulers to ensure safe staffing coverage.
- In the absence of the Nurse Manager and within agreed upon guidelines identified by the Nurse Manager handles administrative and clinical issues such as staffing coverage, granting leave, approving and finalizing official time records, and resolving patient or staffing issues including those requiring service recovery, discipline, and external customer relationships.
- Completes assessment of unit based culture and actively engages in activities that promote psychological safety within the team.
- Collaborates with internal and external customers to ensure a continuous focus on employee wellness and resiliency.
- Collaborate with unit leadership to develop and maintain flexible nursing leadership coverage that supports unit operations in balance with supporting the work/life balance of the Nurse Manager and the Assistant Nurse Manager.
- Lead the team in activities that further promote practices consistent with High Reliability Organizations (HRO) & professional governance initiatives.

Summary
The Assistant Nurse Manager will function as a direct report to the Nurse Manager in SICU.
The Assistant Nurse Manager will cover off tour hours as to provide direct leadership when the nurse manager is off sight.
Duties
The Assistant Nurse Manager will provide nursing leadership support in collaboration and under the direction of the nurse manager for the Surgical ICU.
The Surgical ICU is a 12- bed unit proudly served by a team of Registered Nurses, a Certified Nursing Assistant, and an Intensivist team.
The Assistant Nurse Manager will serve as a continuation of nursing leadership into the off tours providing coverage for administrative duties, service recovery, conflict resolution, staffing issues, and compliance with quality metrics.
The primary patient population will be multi-surgical specialties including but not limited to general surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, urosurgery, orthopedic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, and ear/nose/throat surgery.
This position will be for evening shift with intermittent day shift coverage when needed.Duties include, but are not limited to:
