    Description

    The Director of Engineering plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing project engineering support for North American Development and Implementation Teams. The responsibilities can be categorized into Team Management, Operational Performance, and Strategy; Technical Support; and Other Duties.

    Responsibilities
    Team Management, Operational Performance, and Strategy
    Team Leadership: Direct, manage, and mentor the team, ensuring alignment with business needs.
    Prioritize tasks and provide guidance for day-to-day activities.
    Evaluate and define tools, procedures, and processes for maximum accuracy and efficiency.
    Goal Alignment: Ensure the team aligns with goals, initiatives, objectives, and priorities set by the company.
    Verify compliance with code and industry best practices in design.
    Global Collaboration: Interface with technical and engineering teams globally for effective communication and coordination.
    Project Engineering Management: Lead Project Engineering Managers (PEMs) in coordinating engineering for development and implementation projects.
    Oversee Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in maintaining project engineering specifications.
    Procurement Support: Lead or support qualification and procurement efforts for major components, including transformers, cables, trackers, inverters, WTGs, PV modules, and BESS.
    Technical Support
    Consultation and Collaboration: Engage external consultants or industry experts when specific skills are needed.
    Coordinate collaboration with other teams, including SSEG, Construction, Procurement, Project Management, and more.
    Risk Reduction: Support the Chief Engineer in reducing technical risk.
    Provide technical expertise, solutions, and recommendations for projects.
    Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities to improve the total cost of ownership for company power plants through design, equipment, standards, methods, and operations.
    Other Duties
    Supervision:
    Supervise 10 direct reports.
    Undertake any other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications
    Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
    Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience, with at least 7 years in large-scale renewable energy projects.
    Experience in Wind, PV, and BESS grid-scale projects; Hydrogen project experience is a plus.
    Successful track record in managing projects from implementation through construction to COD.
    Diversified knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and engineering principles.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel and MS Project.
    Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Strong organizational, interpersonal communication, and management skills.
    Desire and capability to constantly learn advanced concepts in engineering, programming, and mathematics.
    Ability to work well with cross-functional teams, independently derive engineering solutions, and handle multiple concurrent projects.
    Competency in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
    Successful collaboration with contractors, vendors, and consultants.
    This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic vision to drive successful project outcomes in the renewable energy sector.
