    Description

    Introduction

    The DNREC-Remediation Section ensures the protection of public health, welfare, and the environment in Delaware by managing and assisting with hazardous substance, petroleum, and hazardous waste release sites. This involves sites in the Brownfields, Voluntary Cleanup and Corrective Action Programs.

    Summary Statement

    This role oversees various state and federal environmental investigation and cleanup programs administered by the Remediation Section. Responsibilities include planning, coordination, and implementation of environmental programs, as well as managing staff, grants, and budgets.

    Essential Functions

    Essential functions are core responsibilities common to all positions in the class series. They include:
    • Plans, coordinates and oversees program implementation.
    • Provides technical direction and oversight for subordinates.
    • Recommends and drafts laws, rules and regulations for assigned program areas.
    • Drafts grant applications and budget proposals.
    • Manages staff personnel matters.
    • Plans, coordinates, and conducts meetings and workshops.

    Job Requirements

    JOB REQUIREMENTS for Environmental Program Manager II Applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
    • Six months experience in environmental/natural resources program administration.
    • Three years experience in analyzing and evaluating data.
    • Three years experience in interpreting environmental laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
