    MAJOR GIFT OFFICER, COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES, Development & Alumni Relations, School Base Development

    Development and Alumni Relations, College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences

    Join our collaborative central team overseeing Development and Alumni Relations for the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences at Boston University. We are seeking enthusiastic Major Gifts Officers to guide donors through their giving journey and manage the gift cycle from identification to closure.

    With over 100,000 alumni, our College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at BU is the largest within the university. Led by Dean Stan Sclaroff, we engage our alumni, parents, and friends to raise funds in support of key priorities. The Dean's Advisory Board actively contributes by advising the Dean and assisting in identifying philanthropic supporters.

    Responsibilities of Major Gifts Officers

    As a Major Gifts Officer, you will be accountable for developing and managing a portfolio of Major Gifts donors. Your focus will be on securing substantial commitments and annual fund gifts to support College and Graduate School initiatives, with an initial emphasis on pipeline development.

    • Maintain awareness of prospects' progress through various stages of engagement
    • Directly solicit major gifts and annual donations
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maximize philanthropic support
    • Implement stewardship programs to nurture donor relationships
    • Develop expertise in assigned priorities within the College and Graduate School
    • Participate in special projects and fundraising activities

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree
    • Minimum five years of relevant experience in sales or business development
    • Proven track record in building customer relationships
    • Understanding of philanthropy and major gift fundraising
    • Experience engaging with senior leadership and volunteers
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Comfortable working in a team-oriented environment and willing to travel

    Additional Opportunity

    Candidates with eight or more years of related experience, including significant fundraising at the major gift level, may be considered for a senior-level position.
