    LABORATORY SUPERVISOR, College of Arts - Boston, United States - Boston University

    Description

    Laboratory Supervisor for the Department of Chemistry General Chemistry instructional laboratories. This 12-month position supports large introductory (100-level) general chemistry courses that serve a range of students across multiple majors and colleges.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Material preparation (e.g., chemical solutions)
    • Setting up and breaking down laboratory spaces for instruction
    • Ordering and maintaining stockroom supplies
    • Enforcing compliance with all applicable safety standards
    • Ensuring that equipment, labware, and instructional laboratories are kept in good working order
    • Supervising and directing a staff of student assistants
    • Managing waste in compliance with EH&S standards
    • Coordinating with instructional faculty and course staff to provide a successful and safe instructional experience for our students.

    Position requires the ability to track and plan ahead to meet all instructional objectives and collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure that students receive the appropriate supplies and support in a timely and efficient manner.



    Required Skills
    • B.A./B.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related life-science field (Master's preferred)
    • 3+ years of experience
    • Familiarity with standard chemistry laboratory processes and procedures
    • Thorough understanding of laboratory safety and best practices
    • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively with course staffs

    Required Experience
