We are a is a family-owned food manufacturing company with two locations known as Reed Food Technology and Taste Maker Foods located Mississippi.
Our sauce plant, Reed Food Technology in Pearl MS, produces a wide range of sauces for retail, commercial, and industrial customers, including some of the best-known names in the world of competitive BBQ.
Our dry-blending facility, Taste Maker Foods in Hernando MS, produces batters, breaders, baking mixes, and dry seasoning blends for customers of all sizes.
What We Are Looking ForThe Purchasing Manager is responsible for the cost-effective procurement of all ingredients, and packaging materials used by the company.
Essential Functions:
Manage all ingredient and packaging supplies to ensure they are sufficient for production needs.
Negotiate pricing/volume contracts with vendors for key ingredients.
Continuously work to keep ingredient and packaging supplies low
Hold vendors accountable when service or supply is inadequate.
Examines, bids, negotiates, and makes awards where multiple approved sources are available.
Manage and approve new supply sources.
Works closely with the receiving department to ensure proper supplies arrive.
Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
Establish and maintain an effective professional working relationship with coworkers.
Be familiar with and support the effort of implementing quality policies and quality management systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a business related field desired; High School diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 5 years of purchasing/inventory management experience required.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Ability to lift approximately 30 lbs.
Professional office environment with some time spent in manufacturing plants.
Regularly required to talk and hear while performing the duties of this position.
Role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computer, smartphone, copiers and filing cabinets.
Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
May be occasional overnight travel required.
