JOB STATEMENT


Metso offers a broad range of products and services to the mining and heavy industry in the southwest region of the United States.

The Field Supervisor position requires strong experience as a millwright with a background in mechanical and maintenance work as well as in depth knowledge in mining equipment.

This position requires the coordination and planning of activities related to the repair, maintenance and installation of mining process equipment.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must have extensive knowledge of mining process equipment such as crushers, conveyers, pumps, screens, mills, etc.

Supervises and directs on-site crews performing various tasks such as, but not limited to installation of new ring & pinion gears, mill components or complete mill change outs.

Responsible for coordinating and scheduling work to be performed for the customer
Ensures that resources, materials etc. are available and/or scheduled to carry out the work
Must be able to read and understand basic prints/drawings to ensure accuracy of work performed
Works directly with the Safety Officer(s) and Crew Members to conduct work safely
Works directly with the Field Service Manager and Customer to conduct the work in the time allotted for each project and within budget
Responsible for notifying the customer and Field Service Manager of potential increases in scope and price of projects as they are being processed
Responsible for checking and turning in daily timesheets to the Field Service Support personnel and client as required, managing daily safety documentation such as "Tool Box Safety Meetings", turning in expenses weekly and/or at the end of each project as well as obtaining customer sign off on acceptance of work performed, gather and turn in all job closing documentation
Responsible for managing company expense account for job/crew related items such as fuel, meals, consumables and lodging
All other duties as assigned


RELATIONSHIPS
Reports directly to Performance Service Manager
Interfaces with Metso Sales and Operations Team
Interfaces with Manager of Administration/Accounting/Field Service Support for reporting expenses required for job closing and payroll time sheets


AUTHORITY
Full authority over crew on job site
Under direction of Field Service Manager


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
10 years of experience as a Millwright/Mechanic in Field Service equpment repair, ideally on gridndng mills, crushers, as well as other process machinery
5 years of experience as a Supervisor or Projct Manager
Ability to read and understand technical drawings
Excellent verbal and written cmmunication skills in English
Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Professionalism and positive attitude is a must
Self-motivated, self-starter


SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to complete assigned tasks.
Must have a talent for working with other people effectively; fellow employees, customers, contractors.
Capability of making quick, accurate decisions relative to problem solution and problem liability.
Must be well organized and able to maintain accurate records and communicate reliable information through detailed technical reports.
Must be able to read and understand basic prints/drawings to ensure accuracy of work performed.
Mechanical knowledge and abilities a must.
Ability to read and interpret imperial and metric tape measurers, dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, and engineering and architectural drawings.
Ability to travel frequently with extended durations (1 week to 6 weeks).

Ability to stay in remote locations for extended periods and have the stamina to work long hours during emergency breakdowns and peak periods.

Ability to use all extremities to efficiently operate manual tools, power tools, office and computer equipment.

Ability to work in a variety of environments which may include exposure to extreme heat, humidity, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, loud noise, and all-weather conditions.

Climbing off, and working on, stairs, ladders, and scaffolding, occasionally at extreme heights, is required.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus and ability to read engineering drawings, meters, and documentation.
