Position Description
The Finance Support Specialist is involved in the day-to-day accounting, operational support for the Ministry Service Center (MSC), and supporting class treasures associated with all classes in the field of Community Bible Study (CBS). This includes the monthly reconciliation of class reports, responding to class questions, and helping class treasurers. The position requires a strong understanding of CBS processes at the MSC and the field, reporting requirements for CBS classes, and end-to-end business processes throughout the ministry.
Responsibilities *(include, but are not limited to)*
Prepare, reconcile, and review monthly class financial reports to ensure supporting documentation adheres to CBS policies and nonprofit requirements.
Assists in identifying and analyzing problems with the class-reporting process and defines the scope of activities required to address the issues. This includes requirement definition, process review, impact assessment, and operational streamlining where appropriate to increase productivity and efficiency.
Assists with tracking class expenditures, donations, and variances to keep class operating smoothly. Informs the finance team and other parts of the ministry of any variances and corrective recommendations related to class finances.
Prepares and relays communications concerning class financial requirements and outcomes to appropriate audiences. Encourages change adoption across common audiences as needed.
Helps train and advise class leadership on processes and guidelines related to the group or ministry requirements.
Performs data entry for various accounting items.
The class financial reconciliation process identifies problems and provides training support as needed to ensure proper procedures are understood and followed.
Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Solid understanding of basic accounting principles for nonprofit accounting
Knowledge and use of Office products and advanced knowledge of Excel
Ability to prioritize, ability to meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy
Ability to foster a positive and cooperative work environment between departments and field
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to coach and develop class treasurers on change and ministry financial policies
NetSuite experience preferred and a plus, but not required

Little to no travel
Starting Salary Range
Annual salary range: $37,000 - $55,000.
