    Hiring for the school year.


    Reports to:
    Superintendent


    Requirements:
    Principal License and 5+ years of teaching or other school related experience


    Scheduled Hours:
    Required to report according to the number of days recorded in the current year's academic calendar for Office, Admin and Directors

    Required to work 2 days per week over the summer, but allocated 4 complete weeks off during the summer


    Summary description:


    Support the superintendent by fostering a beneficial learning environment for students and staff by ensuring that MS/HS students follow the code of conduct and expectations of the school, developing skilled teachers, and engaging with families.


    Primary responsibilities:
    Supervise, direct, and assist MS/HS staff

    Build relationships and rapport with staff to help establish honest communication

    Provide feedback and recommendations to teachers to encourage professional growth in the classroom

    Recommend hiring and retention

    Formal observations twice per year and informal observations periodically

    Provide leadership, support, and oversight to assist the Dean of Students with discipline issues

    Review, authorize, and communicate MS/HS staff leave requests and arrange coverage as needed (ie. building subs, outside subs, or in house coverage)

    Assist in curriculum decisions

    In coordination with the Treasurer, oversee and manage applicable funds based on budgeted amounts

    Ensure weekly Wednesday meetings (TBT and Lead Teacher) occur as scheduled and designed

    Prepare notes and lead meetings on a monthly basis

    Prepare monthly MS/HS summary board reports

    Parent Communication

    Create and distribute monthly MS/HS newsletter

    Covenant with all new MS/HS parents and students

    Point of contact for academic concerns

    Secondary contract for behavioral concerns

    Return all communication in 24 hours

    Organize and conduct meeting with parents of students with academic or behavioral concerns throughout the year

    Issue notices for possible academic retention at the beginning of the 3rd quarter

    Build relationships and rapport with parents to help establish a team mentality

    Assist with General School Oversight

    School routine and activities

    Faculty meetings

    School climate

    Recommend improvements

    Observe hallways, lunch periods, arrival/dismissal, etc.

    Plan and organize quarterly merit day events (w/ support of Dean)

    Solicit for quotes for events

    Request requisitions and transportation

    Prepare modified schedule and select chaperones

    Prepare permission slips

    Select eligible students

    Oversee Senior Graduation (w/ support of Guidance Counselor)

    Schedule vendor for caps/gowns, announcements, diplomas, etc.

    Create May schedule for seniors

    Plan and organize senior week

    Schedule and organize Senior practice times

    Ensure success of graduation ceremonies

    Professional Development

    Observe and collaborate with others in your area of specialization

    Attend professional development opportunities throughout the school year or summer for your continuous improvement

    Reflect and self-evaluate often

    Additional Items

    Submit all required items to administration/office in a timely manner

    Return all communication to parents within 24 hours of receiving it

    Be supportive of the PPA team at all times when speaking to staff, parents and students

    Communicate with supervisor in regards to staff not following policies of PPA

    Complete anything assigned by your supervisor


    Secondary responsibilities:
    Student Assemblies/RISE

    Schedule and organize periodic assemblies

    Select topics and speakers relevant to student needs

    Supervise RISE study hall and ensure student investment in learning
