    Hiring for the school year

    Reports to:

    SuperintendentRequirements:
    Principal License and 5+ years of teaching or other school related experience

    Scheduled Hours:
    Required to report according to the number of days recorded in the current years academic calendar for Office, Admin and DirectorsRequired to work 2 days per week over the summer, but allocated 4 complete weeks off during the summerSummary description: Support the superintendent by fostering a beneficial learning environment for students and staff by ensuring that MS/HS students follow the code of conduct and expectations of the school, developing skilled teachers, and engaging with families

    Primary responsibilities:
    Supervise, direct, and assist MS/HS staffBuild relationships and rapport with staff to help establish honest communicationProvide feedback and recommendations to teachers to encourage professional growth in the classroomRecommend hiring and retentionFormal observations twice per year and informal observations periodicallyProvide leadership, support, and oversight to assist the Dean of Students with discipline issuesReview, authorize, and communicate MS/HS staff leave requests and arrange coverage as needed (ie. building subs, outside subs, or in house coverage)


    Assist in curriculum decisionsIn coordination with the Treasurer, oversee and manage applicable funds based on budgeted amountsEnsure weekly Wednesday meetings (TBT and Lead Teacher) occur as scheduled and designedPrepare notes and lead meetings on a monthly basisPrepare monthly MS/HS summary board reportsParent CommunicationCreate and distribute monthly MS/HS newsletterCovenant with all new MS/HS parents and studentsPoint of contact for academic concernsSecondary contract for behavioral concernsReturn all communication in 24 hoursOrganize and conduct meeting with parents of students with academic or behavioral concerns throughout the yearIssue notices for possible academic retention at the beginning of the 3rd quarterBuild relationships and rapport with parents to help establish a team mentalityAssist with General School OversightSchool routine and activitiesFaculty meetingsSchool climateRecommend improvementsObserve hallways, lunch periods, arrival/dismissal, etc.

    Plan and organize quarterly merit day events (w/ support of Dean)Solicit for quotes for eventsRequest requisitions and transportationPrepare modified schedule and select chaperonesPrepare permission slipsSelect eligible studentsOversee Senior Graduation (w/ support of Guidance Counselor)Schedule vendor for caps/gowns, announcements, diplomas, etc.

    Create May schedule for seniorsPlan and organize senior weekSchedule and organize Senior practice timesEnsure success of graduation ceremoniesProfessional DevelopmentObserve and collaborate with others in your area of specializationAttend professional development opportunities throughout the school year or summer for your continuous improvementReflect and self-evaluate oftenAdditional ItemsSubmit all required items to administration/office in a timely mannerReturn all communication to parents within 24 hours of receiving itBe supportive of the PPA team at all times when speaking to staff, parents and studentsCommunicate with supervisor in regards to staff not following policies of PPAComplete anything assigned by your supervisorSecondary responsibilities:
    Student Assemblies/RISESchedule and organize periodic assembliesSelect topics and speakers relevant to student needsSupervise RISE study hall and ensure student investment in learning
