Position Summary
The Department of Race, Gender, and Sexuality Studies seeks a candidate whose research and teaching focus on issues in the Global South from a decolonial framework, with specific emphases on feminist theory and either transgender identities or transnational economic development. Successful candidates will be committed to teaching and researching at the intersections of global systems of power, including gender, race, class, sexuality, globalization, and imperialism, and will have the ability to teach general education courses, a decolonial theory course, and/or a critical research methods and advocacy course within the department.
The successful candidate must be committed to excelling in undergraduate teaching; assist in the development of courses and curricula in their area of expertise; and continuing or developing a line of research and scholarship in their own area of expertise which can include undergraduate researchers. Candidates with diverse backgrounds and/or experience working with diverse populations and an interest in helping us build upon the department's commitment to diversity (broadly defined) in its faculty, staff, and students, are encouraged to apply. The candidate for this position should also be an educator with strong collaboration and communication skills who is committed to teaching excellence. A typical teaching load at UWL is 4/4, with a one-course teaching reassignment in the first semester of their first year.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. or EdD in Race, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; Ethnic Studies; Women's and Gender Studies or related field at time of application.
Demonstrated expertise and ability to teach courses in either transgender identities or transnational economic development from a decolonial framework
Ability to teach feminist theory courses and/or a critical advocacy and methods course within the department

Preferred Qualifications

Expertise in global feminist histories and current cultural, political, and social movements
Expertise in diasporic feminisms
Experience working with creating inclusive teaching environments
Experience with community outreach and recruiting activities
