    At Fluence Energy, we're powering the clean energy revolution. We're looking for a passionate and experienced Principal Data Engineer to join our talented team and lead the charge in building a scalable, reliable, and future-proof data infrastructure that fuels our mission. You'll own the technical design and development of data pipelines, mentor the team, and ensure data quality, while shaping the future of renewable energy through data-driven insights.

    What does a Principal Data Engineer do at Fluence?

    • Champion the design and implementation of high-performance data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes for our renewable energy assets and operations.
    • Architect and build secure and robust data platforms. Demonstrated experience with any cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP), with a preference for SAP Datawarehouse Cloud.
    • Craft and enforce dimensional models across the organization, ensuring data integrity and quality through cleansing, transformation, and validation.
    • Provides leadership, mentoring guidance to junior engineers, leading code reviews and fostering a collaborative data engineering culture.
    • Solves complex problems and bridges the gap between business needs and technical solutions, collaborating closely with stakeholders to translate data requirements into actionable insights.
    • Champion data governance practices, ensuring security and compliance across all data assets.
    • Monitor data pipelines proactively, identifying and troubleshooting issues to maintain optimal performance.
    • Proactively stays current on data engineering technologies and trends, constantly innovating and improving our data infrastructure.

    What does the ideal candidate look like?

    • 10+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, ideally within the renewable energy or energy storage industries.
    • Extensive expertise in data modeling, ETL/ELT architecture, and data transformation techniques.
    • Masterful command of Python and SQL scripting.
    • Experience with SAP Datawarehouse Cloud a significant advantage.
    • Proven track record of designing and implementing scalable and performant data architectures.
    • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, thriving in a dynamic team environment.
    • Demonstrated strategic problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a passion for turning data into actionable insights.
    • Solid understanding of code version control systems (e.g., Git).
    • Independent work ethic with the ability to manage multiple priorities, multiple stakeholders and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
    • Unwavering passion for renewable energy and the fight against climate change.
