The Designer 2 will be responsible for creating and developing designs for a variety of projects.The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other designers to ensure that designs meet project requirements and deadlines.
Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA.Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal.
Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other designers to ensure that designs meet project requirements.Prepare and present design concepts and ideas to project teams and clients.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in design. \Candidate must have proficiency in 2D AutoCAD software.
Candidate must have an Active Secret Clearance required for this position.
Candidate must have familiarity with shipboard systems and equipment.
Candidate must have strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Candidate must have knowledge of industry trends and best practices in design. \Openness to travel as required
Familiarity with IDEA CAD Standards
Able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes.
Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, shipboard, shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
May involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels, riding ships at sea for extended periods.
