    Undergraduate Academic Affairs has an outstanding opportunity for a Computer Support Technician 2 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv).


    The Computer Support Technician 2 will be part of a small IT team responsible for providing computer-related technical support to UAA users and our clients.

    The successful applicant will need to apply their knowledge of computer technology principles to address software and hardware issues that arise.

    They will help manage workstations and provide technical support to UAA staff members.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Systems Administration and Desktop Support 50%

    Install and maintain desktop computers that use Windows, Linux or Mac OS.

    Provide desktop computing, mobile device, and printer support to UAA staff.

    Install, configure, and maintain a variety of software on staff workstations.


    Use diagnostic tools and troubleshooting processes to determine if problems are due to equipment, network or application errors; refer complex problems to hardware maintenance, software support or vendor support services.


    Coordinate repair scheduling, service requests, records maintenance, service contracts, user accounts, security, and workstation configurations; establish procedures for monitoring and prioritizing system usage.


    Maintain several small computer labs, including installation of new hardware and software, perform software upgrades and system patches, diagnose and correct hardware and software problems.

    Manage and support desktop and networked printers.

    Support teaching technology needs, including computer projector support and the ability to support classroom audio and video systems.

    Provide basic training on the use of UAA / UW systems for new employees.
    Administrative Management 50%

    Monitor our helpdesk ticketing system to ensure support work gets done in a timely and efficient manner.


    Manage equipment inventory including purchasing new IT equipment, entering equipment into an asset management system, equipment auditing, and surplussing of equipment that is no longer useful.

    Write, maintain and update system support manuals and other types of documentation.

    Attend departmental meetings and provide reports and updates.

    Collaborate with other IT staff to solve problems.

    Keep abreast of new technologies and resources available at the University. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    One year of experience as a Computer Support Technician I OR equivalent education/experience. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Two or more years of professional experience providing end-user computer support and maintaining desktop computers.

    Experience working with Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.

    Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy.

    Experience with maintaining and supporting software applications and suites such as Microsoft Office, Adobe.

    Experience with system imaging.

    Experience with HTML, JavaScript.

    Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and complete tasks efficiently and within deadlines.

    Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisor.

    Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

    Demonstrated experience supporting nontechnical users in the use of complex computer systems.

    Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information at the level of clients' understanding.

    Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
