    We are currently recruiting for a
    Buyer to join our Procurement Team.


    What you will do

    As a buyer, you are responsible for the daily execution of the operational procurement processes for our terminals in Houston and New Orleans.

    You will execute procurement requests, develop, and maintain agreements, building professional relationships, optimizing product databases, leading sourcing events, managing suppliers, contributing to improvement projects, and collaborating with various departments to enhance procurement integration and alignment.

    You will manage the complete procurement process, from receipt of the requisition until the actual delivery, sourcing, supplier selection, negotiations, and expediting.

    You will balance quality, price, and delivery times.


    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    Operational Procurement:
    Execute all operational and initial procurement requests for your assigned terminal(s), following the established procurement procedures.

    This involves efficiently handling requisitions, identifying suitable suppliers, initiating the procurement process including negotiations in where you balance quality, price, and delivery times.


    Stakeholder Management:
    Develop and maintain professional business relationships with both internal customers and suppliers. This entails effective communication, understanding their requirements, and addressing any concerns or inquiries promptly. Building strong relationships will contribute to a collaborative and productive procurement environment.

    Contract Management:
    Develop and manage a portfolio of assigned agreements and contracts.

    Process Improvement:
    Optimize and improve the utilization of the Stolthaven Store / product database.

    This may involve updating product information, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data, and identifying opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency in procurement operations.


    Procurement Performance:
    Proactively and continuously analyze and execute opportunities to reduce costs, enhance professionalism, and increase compliance.

    This includes preparing bid summaries, active participation in the negotiation process, evaluating bids and recommending appropriate suppliers based on a thorough assessment of factors such as cost, quality, and delivery timelines.


    Continuous Improvement:
    Execute improvement projects delegated by your Procurement Manager to drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, systems, and strategies. This involves actively contributing ideas, providing insights, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

    Supplier Management:
    Manage active suppliers and regularly verify their performance, ensuring that they meet the agreed-upon standards. Additionally, you will work towards normalizing the approved supplier list, maintaining a balanced and effective supplier base.


    Qualifications


    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain Management
    • Purchasing education on NEVI/CIPS 1 and preferably NEVI/CIPS 2 level
    • 3+ years of experience in a technical and/or tactical purchasing position
    • Strong understanding of procurement processes
    • Deep knowledge of procurement best practices, including sourcing, supplier evaluation, negotiation techniques, and contract development and management
