Summary About the Position:
This position serves as a Mechanical Engineer within the Engineering Division.
The Incumbent will be responsible for the design and technical review of mechanical systems related to Military and Civil Works facilities.
Responsibilities Evaluate mechanical system control schemes for clarity, completeness, accuracy, and/or energy efficiency. Review contractor shop drawings of mechanical equipment, devices, and/or systems for conformance. Select the most economic or least energy intensive mechanical system for engineering design projects. Design mechanical control systems that employ the most current industry best practices for energy efficiency enhancement. Develop plans/specifications for projects using Autodesk Revit Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Specintact software.Provide assistance in the negotiation of Architectural Engineering (A-E) contracts by preparing man-hour estimates for the design of mechanical systems.
Provide technical review of mechanical systems to evaluate economic performance. Verify proper adherence to criteria and/or scope of work on contractor design, repair, maintenance, and/or construction of mechanical systems.Provide assistance in the negotiation of Architectural Engineering (A-E) contracts by preparing man-hour estimates for the design of mechanical systems.

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) developing Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection drawings, plans and specifications, 2.)writing technical reports and/or 3.)performing the technical review of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection design products developed internally or by A-E firms.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-09.
